Once upon a time (and way past her bedtime) our daughter Olivia asked to have recess. At midnight. She fell asleep 5 minutes later but it got mom and dad talking. “Remember your favourite time of the day?” It always felt too short and weather depending. What if she was onto something bigger?

We went to hundreds of playgrounds and were inspired by countless founders…but always walked away feeling like we were the only ones talking about the science behind play. So we went off the high board and into the deep end.
